Life Lesson #5: Reflect

10338889_777046198986310_4902934731705751701_nThere are many things we can learn by studying our moon, such as the age of the earth, and today’s Life Lesson.

The moon has such beauty in how it reflects the light from our sun. As you already know, the sun is our primary source of light on this earth. And through it’s light it helps preserve life.

Well — just as the moon reflects the sun, so does The Son (Jesus), reflects the Father (God).

Hebrews1:3 says, “The Son (Jesus) radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and He sustains everything by the mighty power of His command. When He had cleansed us from our sins, He sat down in the place of honor at the right hand of the majestic God in heaven.” NIV

Even Jesus Himself, while on the earth, once said,

“I am the Light of the world. Whoever follows Me will never walk in darkness, but will have the Light of life.”  John8:12  NIV

Now what’s interesting is that Jesus doesn’t just call Himself, the Light of the World and walk away. He doesn’t stand there to take the credit for being the only one to reflect the Father’s glory. No. He gives us the same opportunity. He tells us that we too can reflect and shine forth God’s Light from our very being just as much as He did.

Jesus said, “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew5:14-16 NIV

Don’t you see? light

You are a Light! Each and every one of us, as differently as we may be from our eye color, hairstyles, height or build, we were all made with the same PURPOSE in mind: to reflect the Father’s Light!

That’s right — you were created on PURPOSE and for a PURPOSE.

You and I — are no accident. We’re not a result from a random BANG! We are a masterpiece!

“For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.”  Eph. 2:10 NLT

Have you ever stopped and considered the value of a diamond?

Diamonds are extremely strong.  In fact the root word for Diamond, in Greek, is adámas , which is translated to English as “unbreakable.”

Diamonds are also extremely valuable. They are prized possessions among the human race —a true treasure.

We are God’s diamonds. We are His valued treasure.

And most of us need to remember, that even though we aren’t invincible — with God, we are unstoppable.

“In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I (Jesus) have overcome the world.” John 16:33 NIV

“We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed.”  2 Cor. 4:8-9 NIV

The one thing that the moon and the diamond have in common is that they both reflect light.

Think about it. A diamond would loose its beauty if it did not reflect the light. Put a diamond in a dark room and there is nothing to see. Place the diamond by a light source and you will be amazed at how it reflects the light from multiple angles.

Just as the moon and the diamond both reflect the light. We too need to reflect the Light of Christ, who is simply a reflection of the Father.

So get out there and let’s LIGHT UP THE SKY!
